  • run: 6.2 mi
  • time: 55.33
  • temp: 68
  • road conditions: blessedly cool and cloudy
  • aches/pains: knees and thighs were done at the end
  • what i listened to when i ran: ben folds - golden slumbers. it came on as i was running up main street, neck in neck with a woman who appeared to be in my age grouping. i almost started to cry. then it ended and i still had less than half a mile to go so i sucked it up.
  • comments: i got my medal! it was so worth it. i started slow, passed on the water stops because i didn't want to slow my steady pace, and tried to amp it up at the end. i wasn't able to power my way to the finish line. there were two ladies i was trying to pass during the last mile and i just couldn't do it (even though i'd passed them earlier on several times). because i prepared, i did enjoy the race. i was surprised at how hilly the course was, and how we ran through neighbohoods of mcmansions. i think i even recognized one of the subdivisions we ran through as one i'd biked through with my dad eons ago. it was great to wait for my friend after my race and take a picture of her coming to the finish line.
