  • road conditions: sunny
  • aches/pains: neck and shoulders
  • what i listened to when i ran: new pornographers - mutiny i promised you, josh ritter, golden age of radio, queen - one vision, bf5 - eddie walker
  • comments: knees and legs felt much better today. gait is improving. can move my jaw into place now that i'm home with a little effort and a little discomfort, which is an improvement over 2 days ago. i'm glad i took yesterday off to rest. my jaw was in good alignment most of the day yesterday and i really didn't feel like messing it up. wore my new black long sleeve over a tank, tights, and headband and was very comfortable.

Saturday, December 24, 2011

  • run: 3 mi
  • time: 30 min
  • temp: 26
  • road conditions: lightly dusted with snow and sunny
  • aches/pains: both knees, shoulders, quads
  • what i listened to when i ran: hotel lights - amelia bright, fiona apple - shadowboxed, jeff buckley - hallelujah, ben folds - dr. yang
  • comments: jaw doesn't seem so off right now, but i may just be getting used to it. i'm so slow and it's so painful. the nice thing is that my mental game tells me to keep going, so it's not hard to complete such a short run. i tell myself that i'm finishing a marathon when the pain gets bad. i really lost so much by being out for a month. my gait feels horrible. at the same time, there's a part of me that loves being out there again and is willing to keep trying to get back to where i was. i missed 2 of my favorite races that i know i could have pr'ed in and now i'm back to where i was 2 years ago when i just started.

Friday, December 23, 2011

  • run: 4.2 mi
  • time: 45 min
  • temp: 28
  • road conditions: sun coming up
  • aches/pains: knees, legs, jaw, even elbows
  • what i listened to when i run: ben folds - dog, duran duran - new moon on monday, new pornographers - sing me spanish techno, belle and sebastian - the model, elton john - this song has no title.
  • comments: got the wires cut 3 days ago, but the arch bars are still in. i'm glad i didn't try running with the jaw wired shut because of the breathing. my jaw is a little sore and this little jaunt probably didn't help the healing. i'm just hoping it didn't hurt it. it was healing for my soul. i started to cry when i got around the river and saw how beautiful it was with the early morning light hitting it, hearing the geese. i took it pretty easy and went further than i thought i would, but the aches hit about halfway up the hill on summit. i practically limped home, but what a ride. glad to be back in the game.
